What qualifies as Bracket 3?
NO mass land denial | These cards regularly destroy, exile, and bounce other lands, keep lands tapped, or change what mana is produced by four or more lands per player without replacing them. Examples in this category are Armageddon, Ruination, Sunder, Winter Orb, and Blood Moon. |
---|---|
NO chaining of extra turns | Extra-turn cards should not be intended to be chained in succession or looped. |
Infinite COMBOS allowed at LATE GAME only | If no player is on their seventh turn, excluding extra turns, players must not attempt to generate or simulate infinite effects (e.g., infinite mana, infinite damage, infinite draw, etc.). |
Up to 3 game changers only | See list of game changers |
Ruling on combos before late game (Turn 7)
Any ability, spell, or game effect that results in a repeatable game loop may only be used once per turn (A loop is defined as a sequence of actions that leads back to the same game state or functionally equivalent state that can be repeated indefinitely).
If a game action, ability, or sequence would cause a loop to repeat beyond its first iteration in a single turn, the player must stop. Any attempt to repeat such a loop is considered illegal and may result in a game loss or disqualification at the judge's or tournament organizer's discretion.
Legal: | Illegal: |
---|---|
Flickering a Wall of Omens once per turn for draw. | Using a Deadeye Navigator loop to flicker Peregrine Drake endlessly for mana. |
Untapping a creature once per turn with Kiora's Follower. | Infinite Freed from the Real untap combo. |
Using Blood Artist to drain once from a death trigger. | Infinite loop with Blood Artist + Zulaport Cutthroat + Persist. |
First Violation: warning and game rewind if applicable.
Second Violation or Intentional Abuse: Game loss or disqualification.
Additional reminder: Players need to track what turn cycle they are on. If a request for ruling is called and the turn cycle cannot be verified by the judge or tournament organizer, then it is assumed that the game is in Late Game.
Casual Playtest Event
Limited number of Playtest cards allowed
You are allowed to playtest all the Reserved List cards in your deck plus ten additional cards of your choosing. See list of Reserved List cards
A Playtest card is a card (typically a basic land) marked with the name of another Magic card for the purpose of playtesting.
Playtest cards are not trying to be reproductions of real Magic cards; they do not have official art and they would not pass even as the real thing even under the most cursory glance.
All playtest cards must be printed or placed on cardstock of the appropriate thickness and dimensions, ensuring they match the original cards in your library.
All playtest cards must NOT use original WotC art unless they are Gold-bordered cards, Collectors' Edition, Intl. Collectors' Edition, or 30th Anniversary Edition cards.
WPN policy on counterfeits:
Counterfeit card — An inauthentic Magic card made to pass as, or represent, an existing authentic Magic card. Counterfeit Magic cards will often use Wizard’s registered trademarks, logos, card mechanics, card names, and artwork.
